Protect Our Precious Body

Know our body

  • Our body is made up of different organs and each has its own functions
  • Some organs are located on the surface of the body e.g. eyes, noses, mouth, hands and legs while some are inside the body e.g. the heart, lungs, kidneys, brain etc.
  • Boys and girls have many organs in common. However, some organs are present in one sex only. These are the reproductive organs or the sex organs. They enable us to give birth to offsprings when we grow up
  • In our daily lives, we have to pay attention to our personal hygiene including the cleanliness of our external sex organs ( penis and scrotum for the boy, and vulva for the girl)

Sex and strength

  • we are born as either male or female
  • both sexes have their own strengths and weaknesses and one is not stronger than the other
  • we should accept and respect each other's sex and characteristics so as to learn from others' strengths and improve our weaknesses
  • both sexes have equal rights and the choice of occupation, in general, is not affected by one's sex

The responsibilities of the owner of the body

  • we are the owner of our bodies and it is our responsibility to protect it
  • we wear clothes to keep warm and also to cover the private parts of our bodies like the breasts, hips and the genital areas. The private parts should not be touched or seen by others casually
  • we need to respect others' as well as our own bodies. Therefore, we should not freely urinate or defecate, expose ourselves or touch our private parts in public areas. In particular, we should not touch or look at others' private parts

Sexual harassment

Anyone who threatens, cheats, or uses violence or other inappropriate methods to achieve the following commits sexual harassment :

  • touches our private parts, especially our sex organs
  • touches his/her own sex organs in front of us
  • forces us to undress and expose our bodies
  • exposes his/her sex organs in front of us
  • forces us to watch pornographic materials
  • take pictures of us naked
  • forces us to have sexual intercourse

If we encounter sexual harassment, stay calm and boldly say "no". Then, find an opportunity to run away to a safe place as soon as possible. Seek help from an adult whom you trust e.g. family member, teacher or social worker.

If you have any queries about sexual harassment, seek help from an adult whom you trust as soon as possible.
