Why Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercise?
-
When we are under stress for a long time, we contract our muscles unconsciously. The principle of progressive muscle relaxation exercise is to achieve a relaxation state through relaxing our muscles. With training, we become more familiarized with the sense of relaxation so that we can voluntarily induce this sensation in the face of a stressor.
-
To relax our muscle, we have to:
- recognize the different sensations of contracting and relaxing the muscles
- contract and relax different muscle groups progressively
-
It takes time to master the skills of progressive muscle relaxation exercise. All you need is regular practice. Practise for 15 to 20 minutes once or twice a day. Gradually you will experience the benefits of the relaxation exercise.
